About NKyEPR
After spending years in animal rescue, Tracy Yerkes, Founder & President of NKyEPR, recognized that many Northern Kentucky families — facing uncertainty from unexpected job loss, medical crises, or financial hardship—needed just a small helping hand to keep their pets at home. She also saw tons of usable pet food and supplies being destroyed by retailers when returned. So she applied the principle “Be the change you want to see” and launched NKy Emergency Pet Resources in mid-2024.

As of July 1, 2025, NKyEPR has served over 450 families, helping more than 700 dogs, 900 cats, and 40 small animals across Boone, Kenton, Campbell, Grant, Gallatin, and Pendleton counties. We provide free pet food, supplies, and, in emergency situations, financial aid for veterinary care—delivered through partnerships with local retailers and community distribution hubs. Our work has significantly reduced unnecessary pet surrenders and eased the burden on overcrowded shelters in Northern Kentucky.
